The Moor Sheffield is excited to announce they have selected the Trussell Trust S6 Food Bank as their designated charity of the year for 2022.
Over the past two years many people living in the Sheffield area have experienced hardship, through either a drop in working hours, redundancy or increased living costs. The Trussell Trust S6 Food Bank supports a network of food banks throughout the Sheffield area to provide emergency food and support to those living in poverty.
The Moor will be hosting several events throughout the year to raise vital funds for the charity and to collect food donations for their food banks, starting with the Race Against Hunger on the 20th May.
Between 11.00am and 2pm members of The Moor’s team will be taking it in turns to cycle 5K on exercise bikes kindly supplied by The Gym Sheffield The Moor. The team will also be collecting money and food donations on the day to help support the charity.
Donations can also be received via the JustGiving page set up by The Moor via this link https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/themoorsheffield. A donation of just £27 feeds a family for one week.
Amanda Phillips, centre manager for The Moor, said: “We are proud to assign The Trussell Trust as our Charity of the Year. In a time where the cost of living is rising and energy prices reaching record highs more people will depend on fantastic charities like The Trussell Trust to help them access the basic necessities”.
“We are looking forward to hosting several fantastic events this year and raising some vital funds for The Trussell Trust and donate food to their food banks to support the local community”.
