Zest works to engage with the local community to ensure they have a voice, to promote cohesion and to develop an inclusive service offer for children, young people and families.

The Zest Centre based in Upperthorpe, is a centre for community wellbeing, a vibrant, community-led initiative for the long-term holistic health improvement of local people ensuring social inclusion, reducing health inequalities, and increasing local people’s use of health, education, leisure and recreational facilities.

Following the fatal shooting of a young man in Upperthorpe shook the neighbourhood in February 2017 but the community pulled together and untied in grief. That unity was so strong that the Zest was recognised in the VAS Make A Difference Awards; and won the Communities Resilience award in recognition of its response to the shooting.

The Moor Pride in Sheffield award reflects the impact the Zest Centre has made on the local community by connecting people and widening people’s horizons.

Matt Dean, chief executive of Zest commented: "The donation is great and very welcome. It will go directly towards helping young people in our area.”

Congratulations to Matt and all the Zest Centre.

Matt Dean, the MD of Zest has also received a The Moor Pride in Sheffield Community Champion award.
