Gloria Stewart, otherwise known as Mrs Christmas!

Thursday 04th April 2019

Gloria has put on the event for 12 years, and in so doing helping people to make new friendships.

The dinner, which has been hosted at various venues over the years invites people of all ages who live on their own to enjoy a Christmas dinner with others. Last year the Home Alone at Christmas event welcomed over 400 guests.

Uniting the community in the event, children from local schools make cards for the guests, with volunteer singers and performers helping to entertain, and local business workers serving food&drink, and chatting and dancing with the guests.

Gloria comments, “I first hosted the event after meeting an elderly woman in hospital who had spent the previous four years alone at Christmas after losing her husband. Inspired by her story and aware that many others would be suffering the same ordeal I set about making Christmas special for everyone, with or without family to share it with.”

Congratulations Gloria, the day clearly means so much to so many people.

Gloria Stewart, otherwise known as Mrs Christmas, has been awarded the Moor Pride in Sheffield awards for her work in providing a fun-filled Christmas dinner to those people that otherwise would spend the festive period alone.
